Texas residents continue to struggle with the effects of the devastating cold, and much of the eastern half of the United States continues to face snow and ice. About 78 million Americans have been affected by bad weather, and although the Texas power outage that left them in the cold and dark in homes has been completely remedied, people say the shops are either closed.

Nearly 300,000 homes and businesses in Texas were without electricity on Thursday, until it was completely resolved on Friday morning.

About 13 million people now face water disruptions, broken pipes and system failures, US officials said. Austin and San Antonio have been sending hot water warnings since Wednesday.

Meanwhile, difficult weather conditions across the country have had serious implications for the pandemic: some shipments of Covid-19 vaccines have been delayed, and some clinics have had to cancel their vaccination schedules. The Houston Department of Health said it would resume vaccinations this weekend.
