the-2020-national-dog-show-on-thanksgiving-is-happening-how-to-watch-the-event-bemorepanda

For Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the National Dog Show will traditionally be held for the 19th consecutive year. The exhibition has been held in Philadelphia since 1879. True, at first it was irregular. But since 1993, the show has been held annually and gathers thousands of participants and tens of thousands of spectators.

The order of the show is traditional and consists of three stages. Each tailed competitor is first judged in the "breed" rings, where the best representative of the breed is selected. The next step is to select the best representative of the group, of which there are seven. The finale of the show is the Best in Show selection - the best of the best.

However, the majority of viewers choose “out of competition” activities - demonstration performances in different disciplines, where dogs demonstrate contact with the owner, intelligence, speed and strength.

Such performances are most popular among children, and therefore the dog show has long been considered an event for the whole family. Bemorepanda answered the main questions about this event.

Where is the National Dog Show?

The National Dog Show takes place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa.

How can I watch the the dog show on Thanksgiving?

Watch the 2020 National Dog Show on NBC directly after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Coverage of the National Dog Show begins on Thursday, November 26 at 12 p.m. local time and runs until 2 p.m., covering group and Best in Show judging.

Who won the 2019 National Dog Show?

Last year, Thor the Bulldog beat out over 2,000 dogs representing 196 breeds and varieties recognized by the American Kennel Club to win Best in Show.

How many days it will last?

With full attention being given to state and local health and safety issues for activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and under the approving guidance of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and the Montgomery County Department of Health, the club will stage a single, two-day show

How does the National Dog Show work?

The American Kennel Club recognizes 208 breeds and varieties of dog (though every single one may not be represented at the National Dog Show from year to year). In the first round of the National Dog Show, dogs of the same breed will compete against each other based on how the dog fits the breed standards. The winner, named “Best in Breed,” will represent their breed at the next level: the group.

What breeds makes the National Dog Show?

This year, three breeds make their National Dog Show debut:

  • The Barbet, which competes in the Sporting Group, originated as a water dog in France. The breed has a curly coat that can be black, gray, brown, or fawn in color, sometimes with white markings. The Barbet is a calm dog but was bred to help retrieve birds. The breed’s name comes from the French word “barbe,” which means beard.
  • The rare Belgian Laekenois (“Lak-in-wah”) joins the Herding Group. This strong, sturdy and protective breed has a rough, tousled coat that can be shades of red, fawn or grey. The Belgian Laekenois was originally bred and raised to guard livestock and linens drying outside before serving as messenger dogs during WWI and WWII.
  • The Dogo Argentino, which falls under the Working Group, was originally a pack-hunting dog in Argentina. The breed was known to take down wild boar and puma, among other large game. Dogo Argentinos have short, white coats, but a dark patch near the eye is permitted as long as it doesn’t cover too much of the head.

Who will participate?

There will be hundreds of dogs representing 207 different breeds at the 2020 National Dog Show, but only one can earn the title of Best in Show. Last year, the honor went to a 2-year-old male bulldog named Thor, who beat over 2,000 pooches to win.

How many people watch the show?

The National Dog Show is a beloved holiday tradition for NBC and the over 25 million animal lovers who watched last year's Thanksgiving broadcast.

Is it possible to be present at the show?

In conjunction with the approving guidance of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and the Montgomery County Health Department, the 2020 National Dog Show will go forward in November but without spectators, sponsors and media.

This year, as in all previous years, we will be happy to watch this wonderful show. We wish all participants a lot of success and only positive thoughts! Even if we are at a distance we will relive and feel as if we are there absolutely all the emotions!

thinking-of-buying-a-dog-have-a-look-at-50-photos-with-golden-retriever-that-will-make-you-buy-one-instantly

The Labrador Retriever is one of the most beloved quadrupeds in the world - and it was even voted the favorite breed in the USA.

Even though they are one of the most widespread breeds in the world, not many know the region where Labrador originally appeared or when they almost disappeared completely from Earth.

1.

Labrador Retriever dogs appeared in Newfoundland, Canada. Initially, they were called St. John's dogs and, over time, they have evolved to have traits appreciated by people, such as sociability and unique athletic abilities.

2.

In the 1800s, families in Nwefoundland were required to pay a fee if they had dogs and could not own more than one quadruped. Locals paid a higher fee for females, so many breeders preferred males.

3.

Fortunately, the breed became extremely popular in the United Kingdom, so the Labrador Retriever population continued to grow in that country.

4.

Labrador fur allows them to be exceptional swimmers, even in low temperatures. In the past, Labradors have been bred to help fish, so it's no wonder that the love of water has been encouraged by owners over time and helped the breed evolve in this direction.

5.

Even though black, chocolate and yellow / gold Labradors are the best known, there is also silver Labrador, which is actually gray. There is also red Labrador, which has brown-red fur.

6.

In the past, Labradors helped fishermen, which is why they have adapted so well to the water, but their athletic abilities help them to be useful in many other activities.

7.

Labradors get along well with children, but also with other pets. He is very loyal and loving to his master.

8.

Being very intelligent, resilient and with sharp senses, Labrador is the most used breed in the police, rescue teams or in assistance programs for people with disabilities and other needs.

50-photos-with-yorkshire-terrier-that-will-make-you-buy-one-immediately

The Yorkshire Terrier is a small puppy but with a "big" personality, a cheerful and loving companion. The most popular toy breed, the Yorkie, has won many fans for its devotion to its owners, its elegant appearance and its fact that it is a breed very adapted to living in the apartment.

1.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a small puppy but with a "great" personality, a cheerful and loving companion. The most popular toy breed, "Yorkie", has won many fans due to the devouring for the owners, the elegant appearance and the fact that it is a breed very adapted to life in the apartment.

2.

The Yorkshire Terrier, nicknamed "Yorkie", seems to be very satisfied of himself, and rightly so! With its long and silky fur, with the rough head at the top, the Yorkshire Terrier is one of the brightest representatives of the canine world, which definitely attracts attention, wherever it is.

3.

Because he is so small, he often receives "royal" treatment from his masters. The long fur, of a metallic blue or reddish brown is the mark of the glory of this breed, but what makes it so precious is its personality. If we ignore its small size, the Yorkshire Terrier is a large dog in a small body, it is always looking for adventure and even looking for small scandals.

4.

They are very devoted to their owners as befits a pet puppy, but they also have a trait specific to terriers, sometimes being very suspicious when it comes to strangers and will bark at the sound of strangers or intruders. In order not to disturb the neighbors, it is good to temper their exuberance and tendency to bark and to teach them when it is indicated and when it is not indicated to bark.

5.

They can become aggressive with other dogs, no squirrel is safe around them. Contrary to their courage and daring, they also have a more tender side. They need a lot of attention and want to spend as much time as possible with their family.

6.

It is not advisable to leave him alone for a long time. However, it is not a good idea to protect it excessively; they will be very receptive to your moods and the emotions you convey, and if your attitude tells them that the world is a dangerous place, they can easily become neurotic.

7.

Because "Yorkie" is a small puppy, it is advisable to leave them near older children who know that they should be respected and should not be left near very young children because Yorkie may react if they scare or tease him.

8.

Yorkie is a perfect apartment dog as long as you offer him the portion of daily movement, namely a healthy play game in the living room or a walk around the block.

9.

No matter where they live, Yorkie will get along with the other pets as long as they grew up with them. If a new pet is brought into the home of a Yorkie, when it is already mature, it can become possessive with space and its owners.

10.

Being Terriers, they can provoke the "intruder", and if a fight breaks out, the Terrier's spirit will come out, which means he will fight to the death. You have to be very careful when introducing a Yorkie to a new animal.

11.

Characteristic for this breed are: its lush fur, its small size, its cheerful personality and its perfect devotion to its owners. You still have questions about why this breed is the second most popular breed in the United States today.

siberian-husky-a-collection-of-top-50-photos-that-will-make-you-fall-in-love-with-them

Most dog lovers recognize a husky as soon as they see it. His features similar to those of a wolf dog are hard to go unnoticed, and blue eyes will penetrate you from the first moment. A breed of dog native to Siberia, the husky has become a popular pet dog. Here are some interesting facts you need to know about Husky.

The husky dog is very sociable

First of all, the husky dog is very loving and gentle and has a lot of love and affection to offer.

1.

Huskies are good and friendly with children, but also with strangers

That is why they are not recommended as guard dogs. A Siberian husky dog cannot be left alone for more than 3, 4 hours and be aware that he likes the company of other dogs.

2.

A husky dog needs a lot of sports

Like an Alaska husky, the Siberian husky was bred to load goods, which is why it is used to a lot of physical activity, being a very energetic dog. An adult needs at least an hour of exercise every day. They make a great pair with those sporty owners, runners or people accustomed to mountain climbing.

3.

A husky dog likes to have a job

That's why it's worth investing in a backpack to make your dog feel useful. You can put water bottles in your backpack to keep you both hydrated. Carrying a weight will satisfy his instinct to exercise and he will feel even more energetic.

4.

A husky dog needs a lot of care

Any husky owner should be aware of the amount of hair this dog leaves. In addition to daily brushing, a husky changes his hair twice a year and you will notice this on carpets, around the house, where you don't even expect it.

To avoid discomfort caused by the amount of hair you find around the house, you need to brush it daily from head to tail.

5.

Husky doesn't like the heat!

Like an Alaska husky, these dogs do not like the heat. Not at all! If you live in an area where it is over 26 degrees Celsius, do not take a husky. Such a dog cannot even move at more than 20 degrees Celsius.

6.

A husky is a master of escapes

You could make a movie together. NO, if you want a husky, keep it on a leash because it can run at over 40 kilometers / hour and has a high level of endurance. It can also jump high, very high. But to make sure you don't lose him, you'll have to train him as a kid not to run away from you so you don't lose him.

7.

He needs a strong leader

A Siberian husky is known for its stubbornness and independent nature, which is why it will be quite difficult for you to train it. You have to explain the rules to him from the beginning and you have to be firm, you have to position yourself from the first leader and show your authority. If there are children in the house, the dog must understand that in the hierarchy, he must respect the little ones, never be allowed to jump on them, or lick them. At the same time, children must be taught to follow certain rules: never pull his hair, tail, ears.
