austrians-stormed-shopping-malls-spaniards-filled-the-streets-after-49-days-of-isolation

The countdown has begun until the great release, announced by the authorities on May 15.  Plans are being made about the operation of restaurants, hotels, rules have been imposed for the reopening of hair salons.  The somewhat normal life is enjoyed by the citizens of other European states. The images of Austrians rushing into shops, or those of Spaniards enjoying sports and walks are as optimistic as they are disturbing.  Authorities warn that the danger has not passed.

Since 1 May, Austria has further relaxed measures imposed in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and allowed the reopening of hairdressing salons, larger shops and shopping malls.  And the images speak for themselves about the impatience with which people have been waiting for this relaxation. Queues formed in front of clothing stores, sidewalks were crowded, and parks and markets became promenades again.

Austria will further relax its containment measures from May 15, when restaurants and cafes will be reopened and religious services will be able to resume, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz was quoted as saying by Reuters on Tuesday.

Relaxation also is in Spain, one of the hardest-hit countries in terms of deaths due to the new coronavirus.  Over the weekend, in Barcelona, โ€‹โ€‹runners and cyclists littered the streets near the beach, where surfers enjoyed the waves.

In Madrid, cyclists and young people on skateboards walked the boulevards, crossing police lanes trying to prevent congestion.  Spain was one of the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic and imposed strict containment measures in March. Sports and recreational activities have been banned in an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus.

top-10-documentaries-and-series-about-viruses

A report from Wuhan cut off from the world, the story of the fight against the Ebola virus, memories of the Spanish epidemic and other educational projects.

Pandemic: How to Prevent an Outbreak

At the beginning of the year, when coronavirus was not yet widely publicized, Pandemic appeared on Netflix - a six-part project dedicated to the global cause of the fight against viruses and, in fact, summarizing many documentaries from this collection.  Its creators methodically analyze the process of the emergence of new strains; answer why it usually happens in poor countries and how some infections spread through animals.

American Experience: Influenza 1918

The history of the spread of coronavirus is often compared with the events of a hundred years ago.  Then, in a world not yet recovering from World War I, an epidemic of Spanish flu was raging. The episode of the cult documentary series American Adventure is dedicated to her.

We Heard the Bells: the Influenza of 1918

This movie is also dedicated to the well known 1918 epidemic.  But this is not an attempt to recreate the events of a century ago, but rather the desire to reflect them.  The main characters are old people from different parts of the USA who, as children, became eyewitnesses of the spread of the disease.  They recall how they did not believe that the Spaniard would touch them, how they had faced the death of relatives and friends, how they were ill themselves - and after that they had a long biased attitude, because other people were afraid that they would infect them too.  According to many heroes of the movie, the events of those years became the most terrible memories in life.

The Lockdown: One Month in Wuhan

A documentary project about life in the famous city of Wuhan during its complete isolation.  At the beginning of 2020, 11 million people remained on their own at the epicenter of the spread of coronavirus.  The main characters are doctors, officials and ordinary citizens, who were able to organize themselves in the face of the disease.

How to Survive a Plague

Contrary to the name, this movies is not a training manual on what to do in the event of a โ€œblack deathโ€ pandemic.  We are talking about HIV and AIDS - diseases that they preferred to remain silent about until a certain time - but somewhere they are still silent today.

Fire in the Blood

If treating HIV-infected people in America is a difficult but solvable problem, then in Africa it is almost impossible.  The fact is that many pharmaceutical giants refuse to voluntarily supply medicines necessary for antiretroviral therapy to poor countries.  Because of this, dozens of people who are unable to receive treatment die every day.

Why Do Viruses Kill?

Of all the projects on the list, this is perhaps the least optimistic.  The movie was released 10 years ago after the swine flu pandemic, which killed some 18,000 people.  Then it became obvious that we are still powerless in front of some of the creatures of nature and that modern science is not fully aware of the mechanisms of the emergence of new strains.  "Why are viruses killing?" introduces us to the device of viruses and answers the question why, even today, scientists cannot stop their spread in time.

Hero with a Thousand Faces

From 2014 to 2016, a disease was raging in West Africa, killing more than 11,000 people.  But this movie is not about how quickly Ebola destroys a person from the inside, but about people who are fighting an epidemic.  The focus of the crew going to Sierra Leone is doctors and volunteers risking their lives.

Mosquito

Speaking of Ebola and other viral diseases, one can not help but talk about other human enemies.  We have long been accustomed to them and often do not even take them seriously, but they very often carry deadly infectious diseases.  That's right, we are talking about mosquitoes. The movie contains a fascinating and consistent story about how they reproduce, what they feed on and for what global epidemics these seemingly harmless insects are responsible.

Coronavirus: Explained

The most relevant project on the list.  This is the new season of the Explained documentary series, whose authors in half-hourly videos answer simple questions about health, sex, politics and economics in simple language.  One of the episodes of last season was devoted to epidemics - in it, Bill Gates and a team of visiting doctors discussed the likelihood that a new pandemic will happen in the next decade.  Alas, their predictions came true even faster.

what-people-are-doing-during-quarantine-a-collection-of-funny-answers-for-jimmy-fallon-question

When staying in quarantine, people start creating funny things. Some people invent funny games, other creative occupations. While spending the whole day at home, letโ€™s see how others are spending their time, maybe we find something good for us.

A person in lockdown starts seeing his house as a big and luxurious castle, or a battlefield, even that floor is lava. Jimmy Fallon was wandering where the human creation can get, and started a challenge with the hashtag #ImSoBored.

The comedian asked people to tell him funny things they have done to pass the time in quarantine. Yes, boredom is the path to creationism, new ideas and funny actions.

James Thomas Fallon is an American comedian, actor, television host, writer, and producer. He is known for his work in television as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and as the host of late-night talk show The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and before that Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

The Tonight Show is the third longest running show on NBC,and due to coronavirus it got a quarantine rendition. Since Fallonโ€™s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and other late-night shows that spread good mood and fun have suspended production due to the pandemic, the Fallon found a good solution. who-said-quarantine-should-be-boring-the-sensational-idea-of-a-mother-to-avoid-routine

Who said that isolation at home during the COVID-19 pandemic must be boring, become a nightmare and a torment?  Young mother Rachael Havenhand woke up locked up in the house with her two 8- and 5-year-old daughters and had a sensational idea.

While most of the countries are starting to each quarantine restrictions, there are still many families that are scared to go out and return to their old life. According to wordmeters.info, there are currently almost 5 million confirmed cases and more than 323.715 deaths, while around 2% of those people infected are either in serious or critical condition.

On top of the list, we see the US with 93,110 deaths, followed by the UK with 35,681 cases and Italy with almost 33.000 victims. The good news is that we see the number of new infections going down, which means that the quarantine restrictions that have been implemented are starting to take effect.

As the gyms and fitness centers are yet to stay closed for the foreseeable future, Rachael Havenhand (28) from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK, is a fitness instructor and has been forced to stay home for two weeks now.  Since mid-March, the British government has ordered the closure of cinemas and theaters.

Self-isolated overnight with her two daughters Gabriella (8 years old) and Florence (5 years old), Rachael took her cellphone and bought a lot of "decorative nonsense" from eBay.  She did not spend more than 300 pounds and woke up to the door with over 200 kg of brightly colored objects.

Helped by the two little girls, the mother got on the job and turned the oppressive and colorful house anost in beige and cream shades into a real Barbie doll house.

"We spend a lot of time in the kitchen because here girls do their homework and here they spend 4-5 hours a day preparing snacks or food.  So I started the decorations with the kitchen, then followed the hall, the living room, the stairs and the bedroom, ”Havenhand told the Daily Mail.

After the house was filled with colors, the mood of the house changed radically.  The colors he used were pink, purple, green with several shades, blue, cherry and yellow.

And because the entire house has become a toy for the three housewives, they continue to use their creativity to the full and still paint the walls with abstract shapes and childish designs, which, later, Mother Rachael transforms into murals.  Obviously, after the girls fall asleep.
