The administrative coordinator Keri Nelson from the American station Palmer and Robert Taylor from the British Rothera base in Antarctica spoke about life on the only continent that was not affected by the coronavirus pandemic, reports CNN.

According to the coordinator, now on the mainland everyone is happy to be in a place that is not at risk due to an epidemic that has swept the whole world.

Moreover, Nelson feels guilty for the fact that she can not be near loved ones at the time of the impending threat.  The coordinator, along with colleagues, monitors what is happening in the world.

At the same time, Robert Taylor shares with the agency his thoughts that at first he did not think about the situation seriously, but now he understands how the whole world has changed due to the pandemic.

Now, according to the field guide, he has more freedom than he would at home.  The Briton emphasizes that he and his colleagues were lucky to be in Antarctica, where they can safely continue to work.

british-prime-minister-boris-johnson-is-in-intensive-care-who-now-runs-the-government

The health of 55-year-old British Prime Minister Boris Johnson decreased rapidly and on Sunday at 8.00 pm he was taken by ambulance and taken to the London hospital.  After some analysis, he was sent to a private reserve. But the cough persisted and the prime minister suffocated, so on Monday he was transferred to intensive care, where he is now.

Boris Johnson goes through hard times, his life being endangered by contamination with the new coronavirus.  On Friday, April 3, 55-year-old Johnson charged with fever, coughing and persistent fatigue. This came just a day after the test for COVID-19 came out positive.  Knowing that he is robust and can carry "a mere cold" on his feet, Johnson has refused to step down from the government. On Sunday night, however, after a teleconference via Zoom, a doctor suggested that he quickly should call the ambulance because it is not good what is going on with him.  At 20.00 he arrived at St. Thomas, and after some analysis, came to intensive care.

Despite the serious situation of the prime minister, a close relative of his told the Daily Mail that Boris Johnson is not connected to the mechanically assisted breathing apparatus.  It happens 10 weeks before he turns 56, Boris goes through dramatic moments. He was forced to hand over the helm to the British Government's Foreign Minister Dominic Raab. It held on Tuesday the first government meeting on the COVID-19 crisis.

how-to-make-a-protective-mask-if-you-dont-know-how-to-sew-its-ready-in-minutes

You can’t find a protective mask in pharmacies or it’s price is hitting you?  If you want to protect yourself, a mask to cover the mouth and nose can be made at home.  However, a textile mask is not as effective as a surgical one, but it is very useful during this period.  If you do not know how to sew, with a scissors, a piece of material and two hair bands you can make a protective mask.

The American Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) has reverted to previous recommendations made in the context of the pandemic and currently believes that wearing simple masks in textiles could slow the spread of coronavirus.

Instructions for making your home a protective mask

The material used should be cut in such a way that it is wide and long enough to cover your nose and mouth

The material should be bent at length.

At each end tie a hair elastic.

 Bring the ends tied inwards.

Arrange the mask near the mouth and nose and fasten the elastics behind the ears.

It is important to know:

•Simple surgical masks have a much higher protection than textiles.

• Even if we wear a mask, we must keep at least 3 steps away from the others.

•We disinfect / wash our hands before and after putting on our masks and do not touch them when wearing them.

•After each use, the textile masks must be washed: a washing machine is sufficient.

•Such textile masks are especially useful in places where physical distance is difficult to maintain: queues, small shops or pharmacies, crowded means of transport, etc.

• This recommendation can be used as an additional public health measure.

• The CDC emphasizes that textile masks should not be worn by children under 2 years of age or by persons with respiratory problems.

• The materials from which the textile masks are made do not sufficiently protect the hospital environment.

•The World Health Organization strongly recommends wearing surgical masks or special protective masks in the hospital environment.

how-to-organize-your-program-when-you-stay-home-during-quarantine

The coronavirus pandemic forces most people to dramatically change their daily routine, given to the isolation measures taken by the authorities.  It is important to organize our time correctly and have a productive quarantine.

5 important elements in a day's program!

In this written schedule we must keep in mind, in writing, five elements daily:

• Basic activities (eg hygiene, meal, study / service, interpersonal relationship, play / relaxation, sleep).  •Psychologists stress the importance of dieting "which needs to be controlled rigorously to be healthy" and sports activities, both of which contribute to maintaining good health.

•At least one behavior that we enjoy: watching a movie / reading a book / sport, etc.

•At least one defining behavior in our personality: "If we are sociable / extroverted, we can call for social support those who need it."

•At least one behavior related to our set of values / principles and then we focus on making decisions: "If generosity is a value for you, you can volunteer to help in this period," details the psychologist.

Socializing behaviors seen as an antidote to stress: “Physical isolation does not mean psychosocial isolation.  In this process of socialization, although it is good to plan many activities together in the couple / family, it must be left a personal space, ”explains David.

The program must be checked, that’s the best way to respect the schedule.

The psychologist states that "it is important for someone to check us, once or twice a day, that we follow and implement the schedule, especially for those of us who know we have difficulties in self-discipline.  This supportive monitoring is fundamental especially for the elderly in isolation and can be done by relatives or friends. " If the schedule is not implemented effectively, David recommends "we analyze the causes, eliminate them and redo it until it becomes accepted."

"These practices will become a new healthy routine of life, some things can be kept then in the post-crisis period!", Concludes the psychologist.

china-hit-by-a-new-wave-of-coronavirus-doctors-say-its-harder-to-cure

China seems to be hit by a new wave of coronavirus.  People in the northeast of the country can only leave the house for strictly necessary shopping.  This time it would be a form of the virus that has mutated.  The symptoms of the infection appear later and the disease is more difficult to cure.  Authorities imposed containment measures on the affected area.

Chinese officials have imposed quarantine restrictions on two cities in northeast China's Jilin province.  Jilin is part of a larger province in the Dongbei region - home to more than 100 million people.  Health authorities have raised the alert in the area, writes express.co.uk.

About 40,000 residents of Jilin and Shulan were tested for coronavirus after officials were alerted to a possible new outbreak.

In Jilin, authorities stopped all major transport links to and from neighboring cities until further notice.  In Shulan, all villages and residential complexes were closed after a similar outbreak of COVID-19 cases last week.

Residents are allowed to leave their homes only for essential reasons, but not more than two hours, once every two days.  However, delivery services have been largely shut down, and anti-fever drugs are banned from pharmacies to prevent people from hiding their symptoms.

Schools, public places and public transport have been closed.  Children can only play outside if they wear masks, and health care workers have returned to protective equipment, writes Bloomberg.

Strict measures have raised concerns, as people believed the nation's worst epidemic was over.  The fear spread to nearby areas, although no cases have been officially reported in those places.

The virus in the new outbreak has mutated

The new virus that hit northeast China is behaving differently from the one in Wuhan, and researchers say it has undergone mutations.  Patients in China's new outbreaks appear to be carrying the virus for a longer period of time and need a longer recovery time.  In addition, the symptoms of the disease are felt more than two weeks after infection, say Chinese specialists, which makes it difficult to detect new cases.

However, it seems that patients rarely have a fever, and the virus affects only the lungs, not the other organs as is the case with the form discovered in Wuhan.  Moreover, it is believed that the new form of coronavirus is actually exported from abroad, the analysis of the strain of the new form of the virus resembling that of Russia.
