who-said-quarantine-should-be-boring-the-sensational-idea-of-a-mother-to-avoid-routine

Who said that isolation at home during the COVID-19 pandemic must be boring, become a nightmare and a torment?  Young mother Rachael Havenhand woke up locked up in the house with her two 8- and 5-year-old daughters and had a sensational idea.

While most of the countries are starting to each quarantine restrictions, there are still many families that are scared to go out and return to their old life. According to wordmeters.info, there are currently almost 5 million confirmed cases and more than 323.715 deaths, while around 2% of those people infected are either in serious or critical condition.

On top of the list, we see the US with 93,110 deaths, followed by the UK with 35,681 cases and Italy with almost 33.000 victims. The good news is that we see the number of new infections going down, which means that the quarantine restrictions that have been implemented are starting to take effect.

As the gyms and fitness centers are yet to stay closed for the foreseeable future, Rachael Havenhand (28) from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK, is a fitness instructor and has been forced to stay home for two weeks now.  Since mid-March, the British government has ordered the closure of cinemas and theaters.

Self-isolated overnight with her two daughters Gabriella (8 years old) and Florence (5 years old), Rachael took her cellphone and bought a lot of "decorative nonsense" from eBay.  She did not spend more than 300 pounds and woke up to the door with over 200 kg of brightly colored objects.

Helped by the two little girls, the mother got on the job and turned the oppressive and colorful house anost in beige and cream shades into a real Barbie doll house.

"We spend a lot of time in the kitchen because here girls do their homework and here they spend 4-5 hours a day preparing snacks or food.  So I started the decorations with the kitchen, then followed the hall, the living room, the stairs and the bedroom, ”Havenhand told the Daily Mail.

After the house was filled with colors, the mood of the house changed radically.  The colors he used were pink, purple, green with several shades, blue, cherry and yellow.

And because the entire house has become a toy for the three housewives, they continue to use their creativity to the full and still paint the walls with abstract shapes and childish designs, which, later, Mother Rachael transforms into murals.  Obviously, after the girls fall asleep.

greece-has-opened-its-borders-without-a-mandatory-quarantine-only-for-eu-citizens

Greece has opened its borders and started receiving EU citizens without a mandatory quarantine after arrival starting Monday at 11:00 local time, Bulgarian police said.  The opening took place an hour earlier than initially announced, reports BTA from the Kulata crossing point between Bulgaria and Greece.

The Greek border authorities distribute to persons entering Greece forms to be filled in with the full name of the person and the destination of the journey.  Coronavirus tests are performed randomly.  If the test is positive, the person will be quarantined for 14 days.

A long line of vehicles waiting to cross the border formed early Monday morning, and by noon the queue was several kilometres long.  The cars waiting at Kulata came from Bulgaria, Romania, Germany and other European countries, according to BTA.

Greece also reopened its two major airports, Athens and Thessaloniki, on Monday, while regional airports are set to reopen on July 1.

As at the land borders, random tests for COVID-19 will be conducted at Athens and Thessaloniki airports by June 30.  "Those who will be tested will have to wait for the result - that is, one day - in a hotel of their choice.  If someone is tested positive, he will remain in quarantine for 14 days, "Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas was quoted as saying in a press briefing on Monday.

Greek authorities also reopened all museums in the country on Monday, after visitors were allowed to visit only a few archaeological sites in late May.  Visitors and leisure parks, hot springs, gyms and other places related to the tourist season have also been waiting for their visitors since Monday.

what-is-self-isolation-and-why-do-we-need-to-follow-the-quarantine-lockdown

Self-isolation is such a regime when the maximum number of people do not allow contacts with each other. Simply they spend all their time at home and go out only in case of an important need. For example, buy products at the supermarket.

This is an important and practically way to deal with a pandemic. The less you contact people, the lower your risk of getting sick or infecting others. Staying healthy right now is an important help to society and the medical system, which is under heavy pressure. After all, if at the same time more people get sick than the medical facilities are able to accept, someone will not be helped. To prevent this terrible situation, stay home. Moreover, if you come up with different activities, it will not be boring at all.

From a legal point of view, the individual quarantine is applied in two ways:

(1)institutionalized quarantine (most often referred under the term quarantine), when an individual is placed by authorities in special quarantine centers for a certain period of time;

(2)home isolation (also referred to as self-isolation), when an individual has the obligation to remain in the home area for a period of time decided by the authorities.

Contact with other people should be avoided so to keep away the coronavirus infection. The World Health Organization recommends not approaching others closer than a meter, and the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention - 1.8 meters. It is believed that at this distance the virus particles will not be transmitted by coughing or sneezing. That’s why at home we feel safe, the feeling of safety is the most important now. Self-isolation means safety.

how-a-postman-is-making-people-smile-during-quarantine-with-funny-costumes

Jon Matson, is a 39-year-old postman from West Boldon, United Kingdom. Being a dad-of-two and an all-around comedian guy, decided to spread some fun during the delivery process and to cheer up people during quarantine.

Jon changed his typical uniform for flamboyant costumes, making his deliveries the most anticipated event of the day for everyone on his route. In this way he is motivating people to start their routine mornings in an hilarious way, alleviating the stress of people, but also of him, because he is working during difficult and dangerous times.

“So while this virus grips the world I still have to go to work and deliver post, today I done it in style and made a few people smile. That was the ultimate goal.” wrote Jon Matson on his page.

Jon is a postman for just over 4 years. He was a bus driver before this, but the love being out in the fresh air and meeting people, made him work as a postman.

For Jon, a normal day as a postman before the coronavirus outbreak, started with arriving at his delivery office in the morning and sorting mail into order,  followed by loading the van. But after the virus outbreak the situation changed drastically. Jon can’t go to the office to sort the mail, so his partner is doing this by himself, and is delivering then the van to Jon.

It is unusual to work in loneliness for Jon, while he can’t cheer up himself with jokes and funny stories of his partner at work. That was the moment he decided to make happy others, when seeing him arrive. The lockdown affected people joy and happiness, made them feel lonely and untypical.
