Of all of them, Ki-wu is lucky in the end - his student friend leaves for another country and invites his friend to take on his ward from a wealthy family, to whom he taught English at home.

 

Ki-wu, of course, grabs the opportunity, invents a more impressive past for himself and rubbing himself into the confidence of the rich - soon he will advise them to hire a drawing teacher for their youngest son (his sister, of course, will be the teacher), and together they will begin to carry out an aggressive plan to move the whole family to new employers.
